WWWBoard Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about WWWBoard.

Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?

No. You can not use HTML tags in any field except body of the message. The maintainer of the script has the option of allowing or disallowing any HTML in the Message part of your posting. If they disallow it, the script will just throw out everything in <>'s. If they allow it, your html markup will appear in the posting. It can't hurt to try.

Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a followup?

Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to followup up on a message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document. The owner of the WWWBoard can decide whether they wish to enable or disable the quoting of previous messages.

Why didn't my post show up?

Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it should then appear.

Where can I get the scripts for this program?

The scripts are written in Perl and created by Matt Wright. They are free to anyone who wishes to use them and you can get them as well as other scripts at: http://worldwidemart.com/scripts/. Enjoy!

When you scan your pictures you should use 72 to 100 dpi. If you use more it only makes the picture very large but will
not add anymore detail. Photographs are best displayed with the .jpg file format. It has more colors and the file is compressed.
It is best to use .gif format for computer generated art and for art with transparent backgrounds. When you upload a picture file
to Geocities it is merely a file name like bigbuck.jpg and there is no HTML involved in the file name. Later when you want to
post the picture here, you put the address of the picture in the bottom line. Suppose your Geocities Address is.... (I will use
mine)

http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/5370/

Then in the blank labeled
Optional Image URL:
You would type in your Geocities address immediately followed by the picture file name. Or:

http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/5370/bigbuck.jpg

I have my T/C Carbine in 17 Ackley Hornet picture named, tc.jpg on my Geocities site and here is what the line would look
like to show that picture.

http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/5370/tc.jpg

I hope that helps. I will add that line to the bottom window and that is all there is to it.
One other neat thing is that if you Right Click on a picture and select Properties and click on that, you will see the address of
the picture on the web.
