Can someone tell me what I might expect in terms of accuracy out of the 223 TC G2 in 22" Heavy Barrel? Trying to decide on a varmint rifle.
Thanks for the help.
The "Package" design is good enough that some custom barrel makers guarantee 1 MOA. I have a couple of custom barrels that deliver 5/8 to 4/3 MOA with little effort. I think 1/2 MOA is about the best you could hope for.
If you are looking at a factory barrel, I'd hope you can better 1 MOA, but, I wouldn't spent too much time and ammo looking for that before giving up and going for a custom barrel. I once had a custom .222 Mag that shot 40 grain Hornet bullets into an inch, but the best it could do with any other bullet was 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 MOA. I shot a lot of groundhogs with that barrel, but eventually moved on looking for tighter groups.
I'm thinking of adding a 204 to my collection, and trying to decide if I give a factory barrel a try first, or go straight to a custom.

Neil,
There's a used 204 bbl for sale in the www.saubier.com classifieds for a fair price. :)

I have a stock(belim 2# trigger spring & washer floated barrel) G2 carbine, with a weaver v10 scope it shoots 55 & 50 gr bullets in the 1" range but does not like lighter bullets. I like it better than my encore

Don't have a G2, but my .223 Encore w/standard factory barrel didn't shoot well at all, so I got a 26" Accuracy Heavy barrel from Eabco. It shoots groups that I can cover with a dime at 100 yds. using 26.0 grs. BL-C2 w/50gr. Sierra Blitz Kings. Also, got the hindge pin, and trigger job from Eabco. That made a big difference. Just ordered another barrel from them in .22-250. Hope it shoots as well as the .223.

Ya can't leave 'em alone in the safe can ya? Come back and they fill the dang thing up! I had to pick one barrel (7TCU or 7IR) to hunt deer with this weekend...chose the 7IR simply because I wanted to see how the 120 Btip does on meat.
