I would advise against it , even thought the shooting will have stress relieved it some the removal of the OD will release ALOT more stress even if its a cut rifled barrel (their less affected) you run the chance of getting expanded spots in the bore and that will ruin accurcy.

Now I have seen barrels that were recontured lightly and shot fine after being lapped a bit after word , same goes for fluting.

Again , its a role of the dice.

how far do you want to take it down, and is it a factory barrel or a custom one? By the way welcome to the forum.

I'd ask Kreiger hwat they would charge to reconture it , its their barrel and thats what they do so they know the best way to do it plus they will more than likely relap it for you.
Thats not that big of a change and your still ending up with a reasonably thick wall so it shoulden't be that big of a problem ,especialy since its a cut rifled barrel

It's not that much of a change so I don't forsee any real change in the bore pluss you have the advantage of it being cut rifled which further lessens it. I have re contoured barrels down to #1 contours without ill effects. The suggestion to contact Krieger about recontouring it would be my recomendation. If this barrel is still an untouched blank you could also sell it and buy another in the contour that you want. Depending on what Krieger would want to recontour it that may be finantialy a better rout to go.
