Can anyone offer insight to the dogtown bullets sold by Midway. The yare selling the 50 and 559 grain for $8.49 / 100. I am not looking for the best splat factor, just something that is reasonably accurate. Most of the distances I shoot are under 300 yards.
Thanx in advance

They a very accurate in my guns so far. Not much different than the 50gr Vmax on paper. I bought them because they were inexpensive to plink with but they really shoot good. I was hoping they would have the box of 500 on sale soon.

I have been loading and shooting the Dogtown bullets for several years now. They shoot just as good as the expensive bullets in my .223 rifles and 14"-15" Contenders. One of the reasons I started buying them is I reload for my two Prairie Dog hunting buddies that shoot the .223. They also wanted to shoot as much as possible with as little cost as possible. We will burn 1000 rounds a day shooting PDogs. My contender and one of my buddies rifles will shoot them under an inch at 100yds all day and we can from sand bags hit a snuff can at 300 yds. That is as far as we have to shoot in the three PDog towns we frequent.
On another note, my 22-250 shoots the TNT better for some reason. It is a custom 1-9 twist barrel and it has had many of the TNT rounds down it in the last two years.
They all POP when a PDog is hit. We don't see the red mist all of the time but that's just the way it goes. You definately know when you get a hit. Anyway, this leaves more for the coyotes and buzzards to eat. HAH
Good luck and hope you find a economical round for your rifles.
At least you are not stuck with buying BARNES bullets. My 222 Rem Mag XP100 Shilen barrel really likes the 50grn Barnes Varminators. They are 30.00 a 100. It shoots them into a nice 1.5 inch size group at 200yds. It will shoot the other varmint bullets okay but I don't shoot this one as much so I don't feel so bad buying a hundred or so for targets and a few varmints.

A bullet that I have used a lot of is the Hornady 55 gr spire point, it is economical when bought in bulk and very accurate. When you buy them in bulk they are cheaper than the dogtown bullets.
