I have narrowed it down. The boat is a G3 model 1860. Flat bottom with a wide open floor. Tiller motor with tilt and trim. Motor is a 50 HP Yamaha. Minn Kota trolling motor. Dealer is putting a final price together for me. I sold my 16 foot Crappie boat last year. This will be my second G3 Boat. Tom.

My Father and I used to crappie fish all the time, alot of the places(little backwater areas) that we used to go a 16ft johnboat would be plenty, boy we sure used to have fun around some fallen trees, submerged stumps or old roadbeds, all we needed was a bucket of minnies:)

Hey Tom, very nice Crappie fishing boat. Are you getting a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke motor..My son has that same boat only his is a 16 footer with a 30hp
2 stroke Yamaha motor. I hope you will post some pictures and tell some good Crappie fishing stories in the near future....also do you Bass fish?
and where do you live?
Good fishing to you,
Harry

back this fall when my aluminum boat fever was running high. The version I looked at was all tricked out w/vinly flooring a hugh storage box across the rear of the front deck. Really a nice low profile boat. The only draw back is the 6deg bottom. It will beat your a$$ of in a little chop. I was going to use it below the dams so rough water was not an issue for me. I finally snapped out of the trans and didnt buy it. WHEW !!

We have had a Crappie fish camp on Sutton Lake(cenral WV) for over 30 years. We catch a bunch of Crappie, but we also eat a bunch of Crappie. Man they are good. We are in the process of moving our camp to Burnville lake. There is some great catfishing in Burnsville Lake, and the Crappie fishing is also great there. These are just a couple of small Corps lakes in rural WV. Large enough for flood control but small enough to keep all the want to be "Bass Professionals" off of it. I must admit I get a good chuckle when the "Bass Professionals" just keep running up and down the lake. I do not know how they afford the gas???
Larry you got some big lakes in your neck of the woods. I used to live in Bowling Green, KY. I had a big boat back then. There is no need for a big boat in WV, the lakes are not that big. I remember we used to catch a bunch of Crappie in Barkley lake, but man what a monster lake. I spent a lot of time fishing Nolan, and Dale Hollow.
Do you remember the name of the Marina where you looked at the 1860??? I would like to get a price comparison.
Eric that is a dandy looking boat. How does your motor perform??? I am looking at the 2 cycle 50HP tiller model for my new boat. Tom.

Why do you want a crappie boat and not a good or great boat?

It should serve you very well.
I prefer to fish for crappie, and go often (year-round).
I think G3 makes a good boat, and your rig sounds perfect.
It's better to have a real fishing rig, and be able to afford the fuel to use it alot, than to have a bigger boat that you can't afford to buy fuel for and costs an arm and leg for fuel to tow it to the lake.

I really like it.Is is so quite and smooth. I do a lot of trolling and the thing idles so quite you can talk with out yelling and little or no vibration. I gets better fuel economy than the 70hp Merc 2 stoke I had before. The tiller has a idle control, tilt and trim, shifter all at your finger tips.

I hate to admit it, but that was a good one.
Larry that fellow did give me a great price on the boat. Now I have to figure out a way to have it picked up. Paducah is probably an 8 hour drive for me. I had a good friend volunteer to go pick it up for me. He will be spending a lot of time fishing in the boat, so he does not mind going to pick it up for me. Thank You for the phone number. Tom.

my dad has a crappie master made by bass master boats. that is a nice boat. he has a fast strike 125 hp motor on it. we go to wies lake in alabama every spring. there is nothing on earth like catching crappie off the nest!! last year if the mino was in the water for more than 10 seconds reel it in and put it in another spot!!! it was nothing to limit out in the mornings. and one day we started out by shooting the docks!! man that was a total blast. when they are on the nest it is all one man can do to to keep one pole in the water!! 2 poles would be to much!! it's fishing when you have to reel your pole in and sit it down in the boat to eat a sandwhich!!

comparison shopping that I did, that Toms price was much better than any other dealer that I cked. Question is, will the savings be sufficient to offset the high fuel cost???? Does he have the exact model you want in stock??

I did not mention your name to him, but I will if you want me to. However I have been dealing with a fellow named Jimmy, but I did talk to Tom on one occasion. Tom.

I have got it narrowed down to two boats. The one Tom has and a left over boat a local dealer has. I am going to make an offer to the local dealer this week. If he does not accept my offer then I am going to buy the one from Tom.
I will tell him you referred me if I buy from him. If I do not buy from him then I will not tell him anything. Thanks again for the advice. I am also thankful for your advice on the International shipping envelopes, it looks like I can save some money. The only problem is I live in a small town, and my Post Master is more confused than I am. Tom.

It is reasonably sturdy on it own merit, but to add an extra measure of safety, I put the trigger or triggers in the smallest flat rate box, put that item in the envelope and securley tape the flap closed. You can sent it anywhere in the world for $11.00.

why buy yamaha{mercury has the best mpg 2-stroke or 4-stroke}around 27% compared to any brand, more torque, slower trolling speed than competitive engines, and faster.see test results at mercurymarine.com plus with over 5500 dealers ,a lot more places to get service. boats ok,but you should look at a xpress boat, the original all-welded boat since 1966.in fact xpress builds boats rated 300 hp-King.see www.xpressboats.com

aluminum boats on the market. If you are looking at the Express model you want and the price is buyable, by all means go for it. If you have intentions of ordering, BUYER BEWARE. You will experience a boat buying venture that you will not enjoy. I've traveled this road through 2 dealers and still donot own an Express.
