Got a note today from Leupold about their Custom Shop . Looks like they will be doing some of the things Premier and others were doing in the past , especially for long distance crankers . Custom bullet drop compensator Dials , Custom engraved ( I assume with marked Yardages ) Windage Elevation . Also Custom Reticles .....although I could'nt see what was available on their Site . Also , all kinds of Custom Colors for co-ordinated shooters ! Could'nt tell if this was only for new Scopes or whether they would retro-fit !

I had them change out the reticle on a few of my scopes to the Varmint Hunters and the turn around was less than 2 weeks. When you send them a scope they check out and center everything, even supplying a diagram of how many clicks are available in each direction from center.

I received an e-mail from them showing serveral options but when I went to their web site everytime I tried to add a custom item it said it wasn't available for that model so I tried several models with the same results. Hopefully it's just me or their web site hasn't been updated yet. Sure would be nice to have a custom reticle with extra dots just for my favorite loads, or even a custom dial with the yardage etched on it. :D

Glenn , I had the same problem , but I just thought my Computer System was just too slow . They did show a Duplex Reticle with custom Dots . Now the question is : if you have your own Drop Chart or just a Caliber , Bullet Weight , and Velocity .......will Leupold calculate where the Dots should be located for whatever Ranges you want the Dots to correspond to ???

For the mods you guys are discussing, they'll change colors, add custom reticles, laser etch custom drop dials, all that and more on their Vari-X III's, and all the newer VX-III's, Mark 4's. They'll laser etch any of their scope caps from any older model.
If you want custom drop dials, you must supply caliber, bullet weight, BC, velocity, average altitude you'll use it at, and avg ambient temp it will be used in. Fairly typical if you think about it, as if you live at sea level, the dials would do you no good if set for home, and you intend to hunt elk at 7,000' elevation in 10 degree weather.
If you call their Technical Service Dept., they'll tell you what they can and can't do. The number is on their website.
Here's a small example of one little trick they did for one of my Ruger's:

It was done as a favor by a friend at the factory when they had just set up the Custom Shop with their new laser engraver. I'm told that these types of images are fairly inexpensive though.
