A friend brought a rifle by this afternoon that he is considering selling and asked me if I knew what it was worth.

It's a tang safety Ruger Model 77 full Mannlicher stocked rifle in 250 Savage.

The metal is probably 98%+ and the stock has a few minor dings that steel wool and tongue oil will probably take care of. I looked down the bore and it looks like it has been shot very little. Also there's very little wear on the bolt face indicating the same thing.

There is an old Tasco scope on it which appears to be probably worthless in terms of dollar value- ? set in the Ruger rings.

All in all the rifle appears to be in excellent condition for an older rifle. I told him he should try to sell it outright if he can rather than sell it to a dealer...

Any thoughts on price? I'm guessing the 250 savage chamber brings a little extra, but I'm really not up on Ruger prices..?

TIA - BCB

I'd say somewhere in the $400.00 to $450.00 range.

Ruger usually calls the full stock version "International." You might try a search for M77 International for more opinons.

If you decide to buy it you will have a fine varmint round, my 77R is deadly accurate with a 75gr V-Max and IMR 3031.

A 77 RSI in 250 savage is probably worth over $1,000. A rare Ruger.
