I am not seeing anywhere to send an email to board members either on their profile page or on their posts.

Is it dissabled? If so, it might be a good idea to enable it and let each user decide whether they want email sent or not.

I personally don't want to use the private message system for communication on items in the classifieds or otherwise.

Click on the members name in the post you are reading. That would be the large case name just above the message they typed. A window should open with one of the options being to send the member an email along with several other options like a private message.

If the option doesn't show up then the member may not have an email registered.

OK thanks.

FYI, The FAQ section is incorrect. It says to look for an email icon to send an email, and there aren't any email icons anywhere that I can see on any posts.

Can I send email to other members?
Yes! To send an email to another member, you can either locate the member you want to contact on the member list (http://www.varminthunters.com/forum/memberlist.php), or click the http://www.varminthunters.com/forum/images/buttons/email.gif button on any post made by that member.

In each member settings there's the option to allow other members to be able to send emails to them. If it is not selected it does not show up. I'll turn mine on and you can see the option to email me when you click my name above. It should show up in my profile also. I can see yours.

The bad part is it shows your accual email address instead of doing it discreetly(sp?).

The thing that I don't think works is the email notification to a reply to a post i've made. I have that option turned on. Mike/John????

Email notification on a reply seems to be hit or miss. I think some email addresses are treating it as spam, as I've gotten several "undeliverable" emails bounce back to my account, as my account is setup as the admin for the board. Not sure if AOL is treatiing it as spam or not.

Can you see it on the pull down menu on my user name or as an icon in the post?

The user FAQ says there is supposed to be an icon like this showing if they have email enabled:
http://www.varminthunters.com/forum/images/buttons/email.gif

I have email enabled and don't see any email icons on your post or on mine or anyone elses for that matter, only on the pull down menu when you click on the person's user name.

The way that both are set up, I am pretty sure it doesn't reveal the email address unless you click on it so it prevents spiders from mining the emails.
