I am considering putting a Bushnell 4200 Elite scope on my new 223. The scope I am looking at is the 6X24X50--30mm tube, with the target turrets. Does anyone have any experience with this scope?? Or one like it?? I am mostly concerned about the tracking ability of the scope?? Thanks, Tom.

Tom,

The Elite 4200 scopes are very nices scopes. The 6-24x50 with the target knobs is a very popular scope. We have sold many of these scopes and have had only one person complain about the quality.

it is what I use for factory class competition at the BBB. I LOVE IT! Aside from my BR scope I would say that it is the best scope I have ever used tracking is dang near perfect and I have not had any problems out of it at all. If I had the money there would be one riding on top of all of my rifles. Chad

The 4200 are a very good value in scopes. I've had a couple for a while now. Both are on carry rifles. I think unless this gun is for colony varmints only I'd opt for a little lower power range for faster target acquisition. The ones I have are 2.5 X 10 and 4 X 16 I'm very happy with both of them. One of these was new the other used. Have you considered the newer Elite 6500 in 2.5 X 16?

I think you are right about this one. I am looking hard at the 4X16X40 Elite 4200. It appears as if the difference between the 3200 and 4200 is power range and fully coated optics?? How do you like the adjustments on your 4X16?? Tom.

It's (as you already state) 4x mag range vs. 3x mag range, fully multi-coated optics on the 4200's vs. multi-coated exterior lenses / coated interior lenses on the 3200's and (in some cases) the difference in the 1/4" click adjustments vs. the 1/8" semi-target turrets available on some of the 4200's (4-16's, 6-24 and 8-32 - don't know about the new side focus 6-24's and the 4-16x50sf). Both turrets are repeatable, durable and precise - the semi-target turrets are vastly superior in terms of ease of use/user friendliness. If you're a "clicker" (click your adjustment knobs to change POI instead of using holdover) you will prefer these turrets to the 1/4" click adjustments.

I have the 6-24x40mm Elite 4200 on my 308. All I can say is WOW. It is bright clear and tracks extreamly well. I am thinking of putting my Leupold VX-II 6-18x40 up for sale along with a KT-15 Weaver so I can buy another 6-24x40 for my 223.

Tom the adjustments seem to work pretty well and I like the brightness of the scope. I is a hair longer than my 4.5 X 14 Leupold and the eye relief in a couple of tens shorter but on .22 centerfires who could care. I've had it for a little over a year now. The more I use my Bushnell 4200's the more I like them. For the money the only other scope that is even close in my opinion is the Weaver Grand Slam.

Jon,

Where are they made (i.e., what country)?

And where is the warranty work done if there is a problem?

Good question. I do not know the answer. I have several Leupold's, a couple of Swarovski's, and a couple of Zeiss rifle scopes. I guess I have been lucky, because I have never had a problem with them. I was hoping if I bought quality optics I would not have to have it serviced. BUT YOU raise a good point. Tom.

The Elite 4200's are made in Japan and the warranty work is done at Bushnell in Kansas.
