Is there a significant benefit to having my Micro hunter converted? When researching the name Bob Green kept coming up on the smithwork. I know there are quite a few on this board that has had this done. Those are the guys I would like to hear from. Advice on barrels, contours, twist rates, and handloading. Also, I would like advise on forming brass and whatever else you feel I need to know. Thanks, OD

I thought about making one up for years. Finally DID about 8 years ago. Should have done it a LONG TIME AGO.
It's my favorite round, period. I went with 9" twist and have excellent success with 15 grain bullets [Berger] and 30 grain bullets, mostly shoot 20 grain Hornady V max bullets.
Have fun.

I always wondered why a .17AH didn't catch on earlier. It has evrything going for it. Low noise, recoil, and ricochet, and a trajectory which matches a 308. More or less. Great for a guy with fairly close neighbors.

+1 vote for the 17AH. One of the most 'fun guns' I own, and I wish I would have built one many years ago. I've been shooting mine, built on a Ruger No.3 action with 22" Pac-Nor SS Super Match 10 twist barrel now for 5 years. 3810 fps from a 20 gr V-Max in WW brass = no recoil, shoots to 350 yds flat as a laser, no recoil, see your hits through the scope.
No experience converting a Micro-Hunter, but rest assured you'll absolutely love the little round. With the cost of everything going up so quickly, cost per shot and the fun involved, it's about the best varmint cartridge going.
