The first 3 wolves killed since they were delisted in Wyoming. One shot by a rancher, on private property, and 2 by hunters near an elk-feeding station close to Pinedale. 90% of Wyoming is now "shoot on sight".

We used to hunt the area west of Big Piney and the feeding areas around Star Valley & Cottonwood Creek but when the wolves got in there, they decimated those herds. That area needs a Wolf Cull about as bad as everywhere else. The biggest mistake the people are making is letting the government declare the Wolf a friggin "Trophy Animal"! If we let them do that the wolf pack will continue to expand and our remaining herds of big game will get wittled down to where we won't have anything to hunt! We should be able to take a Wolf with Rifle, Trap, Snare or Poison and even then we'll never get them down to a livable population that will let hunting work like it should for the big game hunter.

Actually, it's not a trophy animal in most of Wyoming...it's a varmint. The trophy area is just the area near Grand Teton, and Yellowstone National Parks. The varmint designation doesn't include poisoning, which is reserved to the feds, and maybe ranchers on private property. I would be surprised if trapping were not allowed, but have no info on that. In any case, it is not going to take long for the wolves to wiseup, and the number of kills will decline dramatically. Also, the kills wil decline when the wolves can head into the high country. Right now they're forced to be at lower elevations by the scarcity of prey animals up high. I still have heard nothing from Idaho Fish & Game regarding hunting of wolves.

Some of the guys I know say there's a bunch of Wolves in the area out of Lowman, Bald Mountain and up around Deadwood. I haven't hunted there in years so I can't say exactly what the conditions are. I used to hunt the Stibnite and Indian Creek area over the hill from Bear Valley and if there's ever going to be a Wolf anywhere, I'd say that would be a prime spot. The Elk used to migrate "Down" into the Salmon for the winter there.

To late, the state and the feds have an agreement.....done deal.
I spend alot of time in CottonwoodCreek and the wolves is not what it was that wiped out our herds, that started before we got our Canadian Grey Wolves. What wiped them out are the is our game and fish department "biologist" and the number of cats and bears. But the wolf is worse than they are as they kill chew and leave it for the birds. I would say birds and coyotes but the wolves are wipping the coyotes out.
I know we have some here and just over the borde in Idaho. The wolves were to stay in the park originaly, they don't read boundry signs.
Kill a wolf safe 100 elk, Fire a Biologist and save thousands.
