The March Variable is finally available . It is a ( 10 - 60 X ) X 52 mm . It has multi-coated ED Lenses and Side Focus Parallax from 50 Yds. Also has 1/8 MOA Clicks . For now , either a 1/8 or 1/16 Dot Reticle . Three inches of eye relief at 60X for you big boomers . The only Test I've seen says it is much brighter than other scopes even at the higher powers ( a screw-in disk is available for really bright sunny days ) . You can be the first one on GGVG to own one if you start saving your pennies now . The price is $2400 !

March Scopes??? I have never heard of them. Sounds like they were built with the specs that people want as opposed to what they want to sell you.

originally designed for Bench Rest Shooters . When Leupold redesigned their BR Scopes a few years back , the initial ones sometimes showed tracking or repeatability problems ( same is sometimes true for VX3s , etc. ) . Some BR Shooters sent new Leupolds back before they were even used , just to have them tested and pronounced OK . Leupolds Service ( in my experience ) is as good as it gets ! If you look at the recent BR Winners equipment Lists , Leupold is still No. 1 , with some Weavers , and Nightforces where weight is not a problem . The BR March name is now coming up at the BR Matches . As I understand it , these have Japanese Components and are assembled by one very careful Japanese guy ) . Yeh , I know , what happens when this guy gets sick ? Some shooters have two Marches .....one for LV and one for HV Matches . I am plenty happy with Scopes costing a whole lot less than a March ( like 15%-50% ) , but I would still like to get my hands on one to do a Comparison Test . I would also like to do the same with a Schmidt & Bender , and US Optics , ( whose costs are in the same ball park as the March ) but don't think I will get the chance anytime soon . :(

Markbo , if you get Precision Shooting , check P 47 of the April issue . I have'nt read the Articles on Stress Free Scope Mounting , and How to Properly Break-in a Scope for Improved Performance . Did read the one on the March Scope in the New Goodies Section P. 102 . If you don't get PS , you can see a Pic. by going to www.kelbly.com . Nothing very unusual about how it looks .....pretty much like the 3 knob Leupy or Nightforce , etc .

i think a 10-60X scope is pretty pointless, anything above 25-30X and your going to run into SERIOUS mirage issues on a warm day.
my biggest concern would be exit pupil though, 52MM on 60 power is going to be a .86 exit pupil, that is insane. at 30 your looking at a 1.73 exit pupil, which is TOO TOO bad. i prefer about a 2.5-3.5 exit pupil, anything lower than that i dont like.
what are you looking to do that you feel you need a 10-60X scope?
and for the $2400 price tag, im going to put another S&B PMII on top of one of my rifles.
or for $2400 you can get a NF NXS, and a leupy competition as a backup almost.
or you can get 2 NF BR scopes.

Or you could just bid your time and pick up a NXS 5.5-22x56 used for $600 like I did. LOL

Weeeeell .....BR Shooters are now regularly using 40X , 45X , or even higher , even at the shorter Ranges . The 1000Yard Competition Pa. Shooters use every bit of Power they can get and Summer shooting is pretty humid there too . I happen to have picked up one of these Comp. Rifles with a Premier- Leupold 20X - 50X figuring I could always use 20X , maybe 30X for long Varmint shots on early morning Western hunts when Mirage is minimal . Theory on exit pupil does not always work in actual practice , and I am always wearing very dark sunglasses ( usually brown2 with Polarized Lenses ) in the very bright Western Sun . When I asked the guy who formerly owned my Scope what power he used shooting in actual Competition , he said : " 50X " . I asked him if he were kidding and how about Mirage . He said " you learn how to shoot through it " . My interest is not really in 60X , but I would like to see if these ED Lenses really make a big difference at 15X -30X just for my own curiosity. I would also like to drive one of the new 550 bhp Nissans which supposedly beat the Z06 and the Porche 911 Turbo ( per R&T ) .....but I know I won't be buying one soon ! :D

i still dont see what the point is in having all that power, i make first round hits on 10" steel out to 1000 yards, 8" to 600 on 10X, then shoot 3-4" groups at 600 yards with the same 10X, i just dont see why all the power is needed. im into the tacticool though, not really the BR thing, tried it, but never got into it. belly BR on unknown distance targets are my thing. when i make first round hits unless i use my swaro RF first it is typically on known distance targets, and even on known distance i miss first round more than i make hits.
the new skyline GTR is ok, but my 650WHP 04 cobra that beats them, Z06's, porches, and bikes up to 750CC with ease is more fun:p

My short Range shooting is with mostly 16X Leupolds which have pretty fine Crosshairs . These Crosshairs cover Pdogs at about 500 - 600 Yards . When the Crosshairs obscure my Target , I get uncomfortable . My old eyes don't like 10X or 12X even at 300 or 400 Yards ! Yasee ...some folks like Vanilla while others like Chocolate . Have'nt done much long Range Shooting , so I don't really know what Mag. I will end up at .... & remember .....long range eye-shots ain't easy ! :D

I don't belong to the gun a month club any more and I bid my time deals show up and people needs change. As for the Leupold you mentioned I'd buy one for in the low $400's other wise I just stick with what I have.

Maybe... poorer traction, medicore seating position, poor visibility and I am betting no factory warranty. :p

I realize this is varmint board, and I don't think a 10x60 would have much use in the field. I also do a little BR and rimfire BR. My 30BR sports 8x32 4200 and my rimfire match rifle an NF 12x42. I would never consider either for the field, if and when I come up with the cash my NF will move to the 30BR and the March to the rimfire never shot at over 50yds. My field guns are 4x12
