My son needs a gun stock blank to do a Rem. Model 7 243. He'd like to get a walnut blank if possible. If it is has some inlay done that would be great. If you know where he could get one he'd really appreciate the info. Thank you.

He just want one to learn on and redo his rem model 7. He doesn;t want to spend to much so I guess medium grade. He said he would like one with some inletting but he would take it without if the price was right. Thank for responding. I appreciate it.

You might want to take a look at a richards microfit stock, they have several that are fairly cheap and inletted. I've got one on a savage(it's a marksman) and really like it. It came fully inletted but needed some fileing and a lot of sanding but it finished out nice. I looked on their web site they had some stocks inletted for model 7's in their bargin section for around 100 bucks.

Good luck in your search

The bargain bin microfit stock would be a good place to start. Planty of work to do, but not so much you get discouraged. Its nice to have the first project turn out.

The good thing about the bargin bin also is the stocks you see there are ready to ship so you can get started on that first project while your still excited about it. Also you might want to look at the tru oil refinishing kits, they have a bottle of tru oil, stain, and stock sheen. Nothing beats the smell of tru oil and rubbing it into the grain with your hands, seeing the grain fill and seeing the true colors and grain comming out at you, well at least it puts a big smile on my ugly mug face!!:D

Get picks of both sides before you accept anything from Microfit! Microfit has a habit of selling pieces of wood and even completed stock with one beautiful side and the other looking ... not so good.
I know too many people that this has happened to to be a one time thing.
