rings for mueller apv?

I just purchased a Mueller APV 4.5-14X40 rifle scope which I am going to mount on a Marlin Model 982VS .22 mag. I am looking at using standard Leupold 1 in rings but I have a question on the bases. The Marlin site says scope bases are included with the rifle, however, do I need to purchase Leupold bases specifically to mount the Leupold rings?

APWOOD88, I think your marlin will come with weaver bases, and if you already have the leupold rings that will not adapt just buy leupold bases that will. Woody W
