View Full Version : TN groundhogs....
So all this talk about hogs has got me thinking....Are there any hogs in middle TN? Or do I need to stick to paper during the off season? I'd really like to help with varmint control here.

Very, very few. They were once abundant, but no more. Conventional wisdom seems to hold that coyotes are largely responsible for their demise. Changing agricultural practices and urban sprawl have not helped either. :(

Knockumfloppin is right on. Middle Tennessee presents a real challenge locating a few groundhogs. There are a few and widely dispersed. My father-in-laws farm in McMinnville is an example. You are lucky to see fresh sign around the holes that are used from year to year. If you see fresh sign you may pick up a couple.
You would better spend you time on coyotes because they are everywhere in high numbers.
Good luck in your search!
