I had been looking for a "back-up" piece OR small carry piece for those times when even a small framed revolver would be hard to conceil. Such times might be when I wore a pair of cargo shorts and T shirt for a trip to the store, etc. Someone on here posted shortly after returning from the SHOT SHOW, that Ruger was releasing a striker fired .380 Semi named the L.C.P. (light compact pistol) I ordered one that day. It came in yesterday and it is everything I expected. Compact, lightweight and very conceilable. Some may say that the .380 is too light a caliber to be useful, but I'm one that believes that 6 rounds of .380 is much better than my BUCK folder. To each his own. It will not take the place of my usual carry option, but it WILL be carried at times. Check em out on the Ruger site. I'm more than satisfied.

The Kel-Tec line was so successful that the major manufacturers are knocking it off. S&W makes one also. How much does it weigh? the Kel-Tec 380 weighs 7 oz.

I often carry a 9mm pistol and a Buck knife myself.:D
Those little Ruger's are selling for $279.00 here in Atlanta and selling out fast as well. Very similar to a Kel-Tec in design and appearance, according to a neighbor who bought one. There is a decent selection of .380 ammo on the market, no need to feel undergunned with a pocket pistol.

Nice looking pistol. Be sure and give us a report on the accuracy, and how is the trigger? Thanks....

Looks like a nice gun and will certainly be adequate for the type of very close "social work" it was intended. My Beretta .380 was packed full of 85 gr Silvertips when I was carrying it. There may be a better load around now. The Beretta is stainless, heavy, and almost as big as the lighter Glock 23 that replaced it. That Ruger looks like it will conceal much more easily. I'll bet they're going out the gun shop doors quickly. :)

That is a nice looking little Pistol. How does it compare in size and wieght to a Beretta Tomcat? The one I have is a .25 ACP and blued steel. It is a chunky little thing. I like it but that one looks much lighter.

Here it is compared to a Smith and Wesson J frame:

Weight is 9.4 oz, about 2 oz heavier than the Keltec.

This should provide more info for those interested. It is ever so slightly heavier than the Kel-Tec. They are so near in size that the Fobus holster, (a molded to fit holster) for the Kel-Tec fits both to a T. I bought the Fobus and had it waiting for the Ruger to show. MY DEALER got me the LCP for $245., plus tax and instant background check fee. I'm thrilled. It is a striker fired pistol and although I can't check pull weight right now, it is a tad heavy. I'm not sure the heavy pull is a bad thing given the size and weight of 9.4 ozs. I'll send this picture along for comparison sake.

OK Guys (or Gals), I just checked the pull weight with my RCBS PREMIUM TRIGGER PULL SCALE. I get a very consistant 7.0 pounds. There you have it. Bill.................

That seems like very good accuracy and good DA trigger weight. Check out CorBon .380 ammo, my friends who carry a .380 swear by it.

Very nice, I dont leave home without my Kel Tec P3at 380, Quite accurate and easy to carry in a pocket without tugging at your britches all the time.
Ruger will sell a ton of them.

Kel-Tec invented these things, and they revolutionized pocket autos. I hate to see their idea getting ripped off so fast, but I guess it wasn't patented.

Winchester's new improved Ranger T Law Enforcement .380 load is what I would use. Ranger T is what I have in my 9mm and .40 S&W pistols.
It is marketed for law enforcement, so it is hard to find. But it offers great performance, as you can see in the data below:

Looks like a great carry piece. I carry a Glock 26.

I saw a Browning BDA .380 nickle finish Limited Edition at Cabela's. Very nice little pistol! Nowhere near as small and compact as the Ruger LCP but it fit my hand quite well. I looked onthe Browning website and it said the BDA was discontinued in 1997 I believe. What I would like to know is will there be parts available for this BDA in the future and does anyone have any experience with this sweet little pistol. It is a little pricey $629 at Cabela's and I haven't been able to find one anywhere else. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
