OK I was out working on my rifle range today and low and behold I found a yote den on the berm. I will try to describe it to you.
Standing in the parking lot looking towards the 100 yard line the den in on the right hand side about 80 yards. Further to the right is a forested area with houses no more than 200 yards away. The range is dug out of the side of a small hill and the 100 yard berm is about 25' high with a forested impact area beyond. On the left is a 50 yard pistol range where the berm from the left side of the rifle range reaches the 25yard line of both ranges this berm is about 8' high at the highest and tapers off to nothing at the 25 yard marker. On the far left is another forested area and beyond that is the shotgun range and caretakers house and club house.
I was thinking of parking on the shotgun range and hiking into threw the woods on the left of the pistol range and setting up on the berm between the pistol and rifle range but, that would put me in a spot to be shooting towards houses. I do not want to do that. I thought about just setting up on a bench and waiting making a few calls but I am wide open from there.
Here is a pictures of it now where would you set up and what would you use as bait remember I can not leave the bait at the range. I was thinking of getting some bacon and frying up then drain the grease off into a coffee can to set out on the rifle range. Then trying a few calls from my Backstabber followed up by (If I see said yote) with my Lil' Pecker. Will be shooting the 223 Remington 700 VLS with 50gr V-max.
here is the address if anyone wants to take a close look at the area. http://www.iwla.us/find.htm
