How many of you shoot the 6x47 (222Rem Mag case) My rifle was a poor shooting 223
H&R Ultra, had it rebored and rechambered.
It has a 1-12" twist and I load 55gr BT's at around 3500ft using H4198. This break open rifle is rather pressure sensetive and does not like hot loads. Three shot groups are around 3/8" at one 100 yards.
The scope is a Burris 6.5-20 with a ballistic plex.

....that I've heard ever having a Handi Rifle barrel reBORED. I have had Handi rifles, in fact have one now in .357 Mag. I guess I've had 6 or 7 of them. I shot several deer with one in 30/30 Ackley Improved, one in 45/70. I almost built a 17 Ackley Hornet out of a center fire receiver and a 17 HMR barrel that just happened to FIT that receiver perfectly. I shot it as a 17 HMR for accuracy testing before doing the changeover work. Never could get it to shoot better than 3/4" at 50 yards and that was off a bench on an INDOOR range! So I dumped the project.
The only Handi I have now in .357 Mag is a lot of fun. I have [somehow:D ] accumulated a lot of .38 Spl and .357 Mag ammo so I HAD to BUY the Limited Edition green laminate stocked Handi when I saw it a couple years ago. Target 38 Spl Wadcutters are pretty low noise. I've seen a picture of an identical rifle threaded for a suppresor. Now THAT would be FUN! Might do that myself if I can find the $500+ or so it would require for the can, and Fed Tax stamp. That is actually one of the reasons I bought the gun, thinking that IF I could finagle a special nuisance animal control permit I might be legally able to use it for suburban coyote control. Ok,,so I just wanted another gun to play with.:)
Those Handi rifles are neat. Not really 'do it all' rifles but close to it.

I have had several rifles in the 6x47mm and love the little cartridge. I really don't understand why it isn't any more popular than it is . I think it makes a nice cartridge for a light carry rifle for varmints that aren't being shot from the next county. The 55 gr. BT and 57 gr. V-Max with H-4198 were always a good bullet/powder combo for it as well as the Speer 75 gr. HP for a heavier bullet. I tried the 6x47mm with 66 gr. match bullets for some informal bench rest score shooting and found it to be a bit finicky , one day it would shoot the lights out and the next day it wouldn't but for short range varmints it was just the ticket. Have fun with your Handi-Rifle in 6x47mm cause right now all I have is a 6x47mm sporter barrel and no receiver but I'm looking for a donor Rem 700 and I'll be back in buisness.

Allan.
Actually I have two rebored and rechambered Handi rifles one the 6x47 the other a 257 Roberts both created from 223
24 " bull barrels and both are very accurate.
The 257 accounted for a bunch of deer already. The 257R clocks at 3150ft whith
100gr Speer bullets and IMR4350. It also shoots well with 75gr V-max but I quit using it for varmint hunting since I got the 6x47 and a 17HMR low wall Winchester. We only have gophers and coyotes
and with gophers you quickly run out of ammo. Top 257R bottom 6x47. This rifle wears a Burris 6.5x20 scope now.
