Tonight I was preparing my Encore rifle to go out to pop some woodchucks tomorrow after work. I decided to mount the 24" heavy barreled 17 Rem made by VVCG. While doing this I came up with some questions I would like the board to help me answer.
1. The barrel is from VVCG and has their hanger bar system on it. What size allen head did they use? The allen wrenches that I have all fit way to loose and will eventually damage the head.
2. The VVCG forearm uses the allen screw, I wish to convert it to a philips head, what pitch/thread screw did they use? The only place locally where I can get small screws could not find the right pitch/thread with their measuring devices.
3. I have only one forearm for the VVCG barrel, is there any way to convert it to use a standard forearm?
I know I could call Match Grade Machine (VVCG reincarnated) for this info but thought I would check the wealth of knowledge that visits this board.
For the past 5+ years I have been using a synthetic stock and recently starting to use the FlexTech stock.....both are very light weight. Tonight I put on the walnut stocks and WOW..... did that ever add weight to the rifle! As soon as I get the VVCG barrel to accept standard forearms I just might get rid of my wood stocks and stick with the synthetic.
