I'll be getting a new AR 15 in .223 Remington, with 20 inch barrel and an 1 in 8 twist.
What bullet weights would you suggest other than 55 grain. 62? 68? any opinion? What powder and charge?
Thank you,
John C.

I use RL15 with 70-80's in my AR. I try to stay away from plastic tipped bullets if I'm shooting from the magazine and if I use a single shot follower then I can pretty much run what I want. My Favorite load is a 75gr Amax and 24.2 of RL15 if shooting singleshot, from a mag it's 69gr MK's and Varget.

I have been using Varget powder in two different .223 AI's. A Ruger #1 rebarrelled with a 1 in 7" Lilja barrel shoots 80 grainers well but I have not yet tried 90 grainers. The Rem #7 rebarrelled Shilen with a 1 in 9" twist stabilizes 75 grain A-maxes but I have not yet tried 80 grainers.

Alot of it depends what you going to shoot at. I like 52gr hp for the varmint's.
