The desert and farms I used to hunt around Phoenix are all houses now.

Maybe try north into the higher elevations for deer, west around the desert/farm fringes for jackrabbits/coyotes.

I would first get recent BLM maps of areas that have the terrain you like, or think would hold coyotes, and find property lines, what is private, etc. Then, if you cannot find enough public land in those areas, you are going to have to start contacting landowners for permission. Many people loathe doing this, but it is a necessary and rewarding part of the sport.

Also, your search efforts can often pan out into finding un-called land that only a select few know anything about.

I would think that you are going to have to get at least 50 miles out of that huge metro area to find any good calling, but I could be wrong, and don't claim to know much about that area. Myself, I would work my way south toward Tucson, and west of there. And now is a good time to do your legwork before prime calling season is here.

Good luck in your search.

Anyone that lives in Phoenix knows just how big the place really is. Where you live has a lot to do with where you can hunt without driving a hundred miles. I live near Florence, southeast of Phoenix proper. The predator hunting around here is very good, the deer hunting sucks. Where are you?

you can work west toward Wickenburg and from there I would work west along the railroad tracks towards Salome and Alamo Lake. Also north to Seven Springs and Bloody Basin are good areas although very popular.
