hmr 597 ?

A friend picked up a 597 rem in HMR for Christmas and it is starting to have feeding probelms...have not seen the gun so told him to clean it...Are they prone to feeding jamming problems any tips to pass on to him ?

I don't have a 597 but I have heard they had trouble with magazines causing feeding problems. Seems like that was supposed to have been fixed by a magazine change. I'd suggest a trip over to rimfire central to the Remington section. I'm sure you'll find your answer there.

As suggested go to rimfirecentral and the Remington forum. The biggest problem with feeding is that the rod quide screws (on each side of the bolt) are to tight. They shoot only be adjust finger tight. Make sure you have a metal magazine also and you keep the chamber clean.
