Im wondering what scope in the area of 6-24X or so is the best bang for the buck???
I see tasco has 6-24s in both 42 and 44, are the optics any better on the 44?
I have not bought a scope in a while.
Ill happily take other recemendations. Scope if for new thompson R55 22lr rifle.
So scope needs to be good up to 25 yards. I wish there was a real low dollar scope comparison. Also I see BSA only has 25 moa of travel, but tasco does not specify.

Take a look at the Konus brand scopes. They have a good pitch if nothing else. Doug

I've been looking at this one Midway has on sale for $79. It's a Brunton NRA 6-24. Fully multicoated lenses means it should be good....definitely better than BSA. Don't go that route. Ask me how I know...

I'll second the Konus scopes. I have 2, 4-16 powers and they are good scopes for the money.

I found these A1optic scopes on Evilbay 2yrs. ago- I now have a 3-12, a 4-16, and 2 of their red dots. For the money I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better scope- WAY better than even the best BSA or NCstar.

How about a Simmons WTC 6.5-20X50? Not the finest crosshairs but decent for the price. Midway or SWFA has them for just over $100.
I now have 4 and can't say anything bad. Midway usually has them on sale for close to a $100. Barska has a 6.5-20X50 and a 6-24X44 for around $70.Sportsmans Guide had them for less than $60 very recently.
My Simmons are on a Savage 10FP in 300WSM, a VSSF in 22-250, a Savage 12 in .223, and a Winchester Laredo in 7 STW.
I have put the two Barskas on a pair of bull barrel AR-15's.
Hope this helps.

I bought an NcStar on a recommendation from a friend. It was a real piece of, well you know. I mounted it, bore sighted it, and before I could fire off 1 round the parallax adjustment did not work.
Here is my point of view, spend more on your optics than you do on your firearms and you will never be disappointed.

I have a Bashnell Banner 6-24x40 on my 17hmr. It is a pretty good scope for around $120. I had it on my 22-250 and never had a problem with it holding zero, even with constantly adjusting the elevation during prarie dog hunts.
You say it needs to be good up to 25 yards? You wont be able to use a 24x at 25 yards. I'm guessing you may have meant 125 yards.
