I know you have probably heard all this before, but it is such an important facet of calling coyotes here in California, where it seems most the good land is private.

But really, the best way is to try and invest a day or two a month, driving thru country that looks like it would be good calling, and ask around in person. That way, you will have your own bond with the landowner, and usually can build from that first one you get.

I used to hate doing it when I was in my 20's, but now (at 53)I seem to like it is as much AS hunting itself.:) .......You never know what is going to happen, and you will put in a lot of effort for nothing sometimes, but then hit paydirt when it is least expected. Learn to enjoy doing it, and you will become good at it. Take cards with your phone number to hand out, like Varmint Al recommends, and stay in touch with people that say " not now, but maybe later". And dont hound anyone.

Ironically, Escalon is in a very good region of the valley for calling, and I would constantly ask ranchers in those foothills. Sooner or later, one will say "yes", and since they usually all know each other........your first access can parlay to more, with the good reference you carry.

Best of luck in the never ending search for good spots. I have put a lot of work into obtaining mine, and most do not allow me to bring others into their land, as they (and rightfully so) worry that it will soon get out of hand, and if they allow one, they soon end up with everyones friends, family and their cousins on their place, and too much liability, for no return.

So it is tough, but can be done. Dont give up. Good luck

And remember, you ARE hunting. Hunting for property ! :)
