I adjusted a friends 798,which looks the same in the drawings,it says it's a single stage, but i'm not sure about that,as his seemed to be more like a two stage?as he has a lot of "slack"not creep, and i couldn't get that out. What you can do is turn the screws in and out two turns or so being careful to count,so you can go back to "o" if nothing changes, the safety wouldn't engage if the screws are turned in too much. The top front screw was the pull wt.and by turning out i got his down to 2# or so but still had the slack, but was much better, the bottom rear was the overtravel on his and by turning it in two turns the trigger wouldn't pull.I think the back top was the sear, but only thing it changed was the safety wouldn't fully engage,i thought the bottom front angled screw was the slack, but it didn't change anything but safety wouldn't engage if turned in very much. His is a .308 and shoots very good, but if it were mine,i'd put an aftermarket trigger in.
