View Full Version : 22 Rimfire supplies
How is your local suppliers doing on 22 ammo and also price? From what I've been looking at the past month or so, bulk packs Win, Rem, Fed have dried up, brick prices are 25-30 bucks and getting thin. The 50 round boxes are running from 1.47 (WM) to 4.00 local dealers are even scarce. I can't help but believe that the manfactures are happy happy with all the rush on buying up any and all supplies, and dragging their feet on manfacturing more to create huge price increases? I guess I had to vent a little bit also, greed has taken over?

my local wal-mart - received a shipment of the Remington golden 550 pack - i think they wanted around $17 for a pack. I was looking for the Federals they sometime carry - last time I bought some of them about a month ago - they were about $15 for 525. The Federals to me, seem to be a better round than the Remington's
Is kind of hit or miss. Last Thursday they had the Federal bulk pack at just under $14, so being the nice guy I am I bought 10. My biggest problem is when its time to plink I have 2 kids and any of my Scouts, nieces, nephews and good friends who would like to go. If I spend $30 to spread the gospel of gunpowder in my heart I've done a good thing. Whenever I'm there now I'll check since others seem to be having problems and post them for cost.

Everyone should take Walmart off their list of places to look. MAY be a bit better at Academy if you have them. Otherwise almost all of my rimfire supplies have been bought over the internet for the last 4 years or so. Better prices, better availability. Every once in a while I will stumble across a box or brick of something I want at Gander Mountain or Bass Pro Shops, but even they are more miss than hit.

My stocks of .22LR were getting low, so I called Academy to see what they had, and all they had was Federal's in LRN for 28.99 a brick! Cabella's was even worse for the 250 rd pack at 18.00. I called the Wal-Mart on Ben White in Austin and they said they had Remington Golden HP's for 14.00 a 550 rd. brick.
I got there and they also had Winchester Xpert for 13.00 a brick, Federals for 14.00 a brick. There was at least 6,000 rad of different makes in .22LR.

I buy most of my ammo online but do go to Walmart for the cheap stuff to play with in my 10/22's. The Walmarts around are always out of the Fed 510's for the money is the best they sell. Was working in Baltimore Monday and found 4 bricks there only bought 2 to be nice. My local walmarts have tons of Rem Fed and Win bulk packs but they don't do anything for me.

I'd rather do without than buy Remington .22 rimfire ammo. Just yesterday, in fact, I found some old Remington Golden stuff stashed away, and it choked my rifle, constantly, shot like, errrr, POO, and I even had some misfires, a rarity with that rifle, but thinking back on yesteryear, I had a lot of trouble with Remington rimfire stuff, then, too.
I checked a couple of local places last week, a Bass Pro Shop and a little hardware store near the range I frequent, there were no shortages of anything I cared to buy.
