Hi guys,
I just picked up a Savage 93R17 and I am ordering cleaning equipment. I can not find a bore guide for the Savage in 17 HMR. Do they exist and can you point me in the right direction?:confused::confused:
Thanks,
Chris

Check their website http://www.sinclairintl.com
The part number was #RG4SAV17. I personally use a "patchworm" type cleaner made from weed-eater line. Hope this helps.

Me too... I have never found the need to scrub the bore of a hummer so I use a homemade patchworm too.

Someone here knows the answer to almost anything. I don't care if your looking for brushes for the motor of a 1956 Whilry Q blender somebody knows where to get them and may have a spare set they'll give you. Do what I do, read the post and chime in if you've got the answer or a funny to add to it.

I received the bore guide yesterday and put it to work last night, it is great fit and I recommend this 17 HMR guide for the Savage 93R17 owners. :)
One more thank you to Paul for his quick and friendly help by pointing me to the link at Sinclair. :D
By the way Paul, how do you make a patch worm type cleaner from weed eater line. I have a bunch of line on hand and it sounds like a handy item to take along in a day pack.
Safe shooting,
Chris

I can tell you how I did it popgun. Take your line and heat one end about 1/2" from the end with a lighter and very quickly smash/hammer it a little flat. Not so wide that it won't fit in your 17 caliber hole. You might have to do this a time or two to get it just right.

Then cut a slit lengthwise through the flattened part about 3/8" long or so to hold the patch. That's it. You have to pick just the right size patch so that that there is resistance but not so much to get stuck... start small! Then cut the line to length to whatever you think you need for the longest barrel you will use it in and add about 6" in case you have to wrap it around your hand.
