How much do the Harrel's tuners go for. I am looking for a tuner for a rifle I have. Not sure if it will even work on mine. I seen one on 6mmbr.com for $85 might get it next payday.
I want to put it on a Remington 513T but I am not sure if it will work or make it worse. It already shoots 1" at 100 yards for 5 shots. I just want to see if I can't make it better. I also might order a benchrest stock from Richards and inlet it myself. Or sent it to a buddy and have him do it for me.

the tuners are $160 from Harrels and in my case a 5 week wait but thay told me that upfront so it's all good :)
JOEZ a tuner is a big dogknot look'n thing that go's on the end of your barrel you turn it to (tune) your barrel ..i dont know how.. but thay WORK.
i'll see if i can get a pic in the next day or 2

here's some pictures of tuners for you. the one on my hall actioned rifle is a fudd tuner. i like the hoehn tuners better. the suhl has the better tuner on it(second picture). i believe tuners act like the harmonic balancer on a small block chevy. they take the vibrations out when the bullet goes down the barrel. it also keeps the muzzle in the same place from shot to shot. there are also mid-barrel tuners for rifles. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p19/gonzogunner/messerrifleII001.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p19/gonzogunner/miragetube002.jpg

another thing is the heavier the barrel is the more wieght you need to add to the tuner to make sure it does the job. i realy like the hoehn tuners much better than the fudd tuner. each work, but the hoehn tuner is easier to set and is just plain simple. i like simple things. i had seen a computer generated video of how a tuner works on a rifle barrel that really made it easy to understand, but i can't remember where i saw the link at. if i can find it i will post it up on here. it really was a great piece for understanding how they work. i believe the main thing was they keep the muzzle from moving from the vibrations of the bullet moving down the barrel. thusly keeping the barrel harmonics the same for every shot.

and this thing has a .955 from end to end barrel. so i mite need the wieght kit.
wont know till the weather lets up some.

I used the LS-DYNA FEA code to analyze the dynamics of a tuner on a 22LR.
Here is the URL: http://www.varmintal.com/a22lr.htm
There is more on tuner analysis on Esten's Rifle Page:

those were the video's i had seen before. realy great job there:)!!!
Thanks guys, I know what your talking about now, just never thought about it. I've used the rubber "tuner" I guess thats what you call it, you slide this one on the barrel but couldn't tell any difference in accuracy, so took it off kind of ugly. Do they actually make that much difference? Also please forgive me for asking elementry questions :o.

Is the Boss system on browning A bolts about the same thing?
Dan that was my thought, Winchester and Browning used the Boss to fine tune accuracy, I know it worked very well on a Browning .243 I had so I guess my question is answered. Yes it will improve accuracy, thanks Al for the link, interesting. I don't understand most of that stuff , so if it helps I'm for it, because I need all the help I can get.
