Does anybody make a tube fed .17 HMR ? Also, has anyone worked the bugs out of the .17HMR semi-auto's to where it is dependable ?

Thanks for your help.

What make semi do you have? I have a VQ and it shoots like a swiss watch, with NO problems whatsoever!

I couldn't tell you the number of .17HMR conversions I've built using the 10/22 Magnum, with absolutely no personal or reported problems. It's all in knowing what is needed and how to do it, to make them reliable, safe and accurate.

Roger. I think you saw this one several year's ago in Mission, SD. Still flipping p dogs with no malfunctions and shooting one MOA upon request.

Or 0.42 MOA, as the case may be..........the day I shot it.

I don't have a semi auto .17HMR, but I remember all the problems Remington had with their 597 when it came out. I'm sure there has been a lot of improvements industry wide, but I really haven't been in the market and therefore haven't paid much attention.

Doug, I do think I remember that little beauty you had in Mission.

Ole Man River, I've seen a lot of your great rifles over the years, but I was thinking I could probably come closer to affording a factory rifle than one of your masterpieces.

My 597 starts to fire OOB if I don't clean the chamber enough. So far it only blows the guts out of the magazine, I've yet to have it break or loose a part. Outside of that it performs very well and is exceptionally accurate. First 3 from cold dirty bore are regularly under .5" at 100yds. Five shot always opens up to around .75". As rimfires go though it's a little on the heavy side for me. I bought mine used for $250 with scope on it, reciever needed to be redrilled and tapped. Wasn't looking for one but couldn't pass, glad I bit.

Winchester made the 94/17 for a year or two before they quit the rimfire model entirely, and Henry still makes an HMR levergun, to answer your question about tube-fed guns. There may be others, but I can't recall any offhand.

I've shot Doug's HMR autoloader, too, and it shoots even better than it looks. I drool every time he takes it to the range.

Doug's looks a lot like mine except for the color.
