View Full Version : A 10/22's I Assembled
Thought I could save some money doing it myself. I haven't altered the safety or the bolt handle. Every other part is changed by heat, filling, polishing or stoning. The stock was unfinished, the barrel in the white and it all came together including the fine tuning in about fifteen hours. I caught some sort of bug and now have six in various levels of tune.http://www.varminthunters.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1273&stc=1&d=1241756987
Hope you like it as I do.

Nice shooter Kid.
I'd owned a couple of 10/22's for years but hadn't shot much until global shoulder re-construction kept me away from centerfires. Long story short..plinking at my club and and fellow member asked if I'd like to shoot his tricked out 10/22. I said no thanks, don;t like to shoot others firearms but heinsisted..glad he did..SWEET..probably 67 at the time and had NEVER shot any firearm with a trigger like his.
Now with wallet a few[make that quite a few] bucks lighter ALL my guns have good triggers. Life changing shooting experience for me..great triggers, who would have ever thought that, LOL.
Enjoy your handiwork..and if you see some old guy at the range and you're feeling like it, offer to let him shoot it..who knows what could flow from that.
Oh that man was "Hipshot" some of whose rifles are posted at rimfirecentral.com - he is a crafstman.

Very nice indeed.

I own nothing I won't share. I take my kids and their friends shooting with me on a fairly regular basis (with parental permission of course). Everyone is welcome to shoot whatever I have, with the caveat that they treat it right AND follow all safety rules. Our hobby gets a lot of bad press and it is up to all of us to dispel the lies and half truths. The greatest part is when a youngster wants to go but the parent is hesitant, so you invite them too. The surprise and joy on a persons face when they realize the fun in plinking and then the sense of accomplishment when you have them hitting targets out to two or three hundred yards. I have yet to have anyone not want to go again.

Nice work Paul, I like the high gloss finish on the stock. Shoot good?
Joe
But I have a couple of others that shoot better, just not as pretty. It'll keep them in the mid .4's and low .5's with SK and Wolf as long as the wind stays low. Best part is that I did the work myself and feel the pride that comes with that.

I hear ya there Kid. I have served on the board of directors of an Indoor Shooting Range since 1990. Through the years there have been more instances in which a non shooter was introduced to target shooting and they could not believe what they had been missing.

Great work Paul. My son and I are going to do a 10/22 build this summer, great ideas.
