My children and I love to plink. Coke bottles, cups, cans, just about anything that will react to a hit. Our favorite place to shoot is on the Trinity River. Pretty nasty after passing through Dallas. Since it is our main drainage the flow of debris almost outweighs the water.
At our best spot it's a little over fifty yards from bank to bank, and depending on rain it may be twentyfive feet from the water to the top. Lots of people shoot clays there, and we like to clean up after they leave. I have three almost Identical 10/22's, bull barrel's, target stocks and two and a half pound triggers. We put out mats and put bipods on our guns, shooting prone. We will shoot until the pieces have been broken into as tiny pieces as possible. My kids love asking if we can go to the river and go prone. I guess my ramblings just mean for us all to find something to do with our kids or parents or siblings. Part of being a family is spending time doing what you like together.

Instead of bottles, try animal crackers, Ritz crackers or Oreo's. That way, you don't have to clean them up, let the biords and animals do it for you. And., there will be no glass laying around..

Just a suggestion..

We only shoot plastic bottles, no fear of cut feet or hands. We shoot prone alot and don't want to lay in glass. I've tried animal crackers, but the people I shoot with usually eat more than they shoot!

I LOVE the sound of ringing steel targets! Just about any scrap can make a .22 swinger.

I like all mentioned. We shoot 2 liters for long range, for me that is anything over 100yds.

Pop or beer cans smashed flat take repeated hits and can still be sold to the scrap yard, full of holes or not. I also like to fill pop or beer cans with water for explosive results with rimfire Stingers or 22 centerfires.
