Can anyone tell me what modifications, if any, are necessary to make an Encore go from shooting centerfire cartridges to shooting rimfire? Or do you have to buy an entirely new frame?
Also, what's the difference between 17HMR and 17HM2?
Obviously, I'm thinking about going to 17 for my encore and could use some info/input.
Thanks.

Unless I am mistaken the barrels of the encore rimfires are set up so the hole is slightly off center to align with the firing pin. It looks a little strange but it works. Also the 17hmr is like a 22mag and the 17hm2 is like the 22lr. I'm not talking about balistics, just size wise. Hope it helps.

Friend bought an encore . put a heavy 17HMR barrel on it . Had to buy a conversion kit from some where to convert to rimfire . It requires removal and replacement of the firing pin. Not a bad job , but still a job. One would be better off with the new G2 action .

T/C's rimfire barrels are specially made to work with the Encore frame without any modifications. Bullberry custom rimfire barrels require a custom breech plug assembly, which they claim anyone can easily change out.

The Bullberry barrel is the one the friend has.
I believe he got the kit from Bullberry also , I would ask but he is gone this week end.

if the frame is like the contender then all you have to do is flip the firepin over and it off sets the pin for rimfire.

Neil has it right. My T/C Encore 22lr barrel is decent, however I think I'd go with a Bullberry if I did it again.

THE ENCORE REQUIRES A RIMFIRE FIRING PIN ASSEMBLY, I BOUGHT ONE FROM BULLBERRY SOMETIME BACK - PAID $60.00 PLUS SHIPPING. IT IS EASY TO REPLACE - JUST REMOVE CENTERFIRE FIRING PIN ASSEMBLY - ONE HEX SCREW HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER. I HAD FRED SEND ME A EXTRA FIRING PIN SPRING JUST IN CASE I LOST ONE. I STILL HAVE INSTRUCTIONS FROM BULLBERRY.
IF INTERESTED I WILL SELL FOR $40.00 PLUS SHIPPING.

now another name....ANYWAY...they build a 17 HMR barrel for the encore. The way it works....they offset the chamber so that the firing pin strikes the edge of the 17 HMR round......no extra conversions needed. I have one...IT WORKS....:D

I have a T/C "Pro-Hunter" Encore barrel in 22LR, no need for any conversion kit with this model barrel, a straight fit........LR
