: Looking for data- 25/270 ICL Ram

Anybody got loading data for this puppy? I'm attempting to load Sierra 120 HPBTs. So far I'm using top of the book 2506 load data and the pressure is so weak I can almost reload the round without sizing it. I've got Ackley data but his data has always been a little "generous" and it's only for the 117gr RN. If I compare the two datas, I'm not even close to starting loads with the 2506 data. I'd just feel better hearing from someone with a little experience with this case.....or not.

Where did ya find that old round?? I remember studying those cartridge pictures ponderging how they got all the goody one could get by 'blowing out' a case!

I think the 25/270 is one of the more conservative rounds for the ICL cases. It's really nothing more than the 270 case with the shoulder blown forward a little and more shoulder angle. While I just acquired the rifle, it appears top be a Saturn Gunworks rifle as it is built on a 98 Mauser action. If the face of the bolt is any indicator of usage, it hasn't been shot much at all as the blue is still bright on the bolt and the rest of the rifle appears to 99%. With what I've loaded so far, it looks like it is a shooter with the largest group right at 3/4" and a couple of groups at ragged holes. But I'm not getting near enough velocity out of it...yet.

I guess GIBBS was the one that got all that could be 'got'. Got a picture of the rifle?

No pics. My sister borrowed the digital camera and now I'm having to fight my brother who wants to take it to Laredo and shoot hogs with it. I might just let him have it for a while so I can find better data than what I have.

What's an ICL case? Learning opportunity for me here please... isn't the .270 a necked down .30-06, like the .25-06? So what is a .25/270 ICL Ram?

Yeah, what Markbo said- what's so special about it that they don't call it what it is - a 25/06!

It's the 270 necked to 25, with a 45 deg. shoulder and the case blowen near straight with diffrent head space length.
Stick a 25/06 in a 25/270 ICL chamber, and squize the triger and be ready for all the hot gas from everywhere. The 25/06 would rattle in a 25/270 ICL chamber.
Mine will move a 100 gr. Nosler BT at 3850 fps.
That sound like 25/06 velocity?

Looks like that puts it about 600'ps faster than a peaked out load in a 2506. That's some hot rod! Looks like a long range shooter for sure as I highly doubt there are many bullets that would hold up to impact on an animal at ranges under 200 yds or maybe even farther.
Thanks for the PM too, George. It helped A LOT!!
What is an ICL chamber? What does ICL stand for?

ICL= Improved Cartridge Line. It's a product of creation by Vern Juenke of Reno, Nv. The 25/270 ICL is a long range varmint intended round and is quite the hot rod. At the time he came up with his ICL cartridges, he was going by the name of Saturn Gun Works. There are several different calibers.

Sweet. Sounds like a heckuva long range round! .257 Weatherby balistics (or hotter) without all the trouble and expense of Weatherby brass, eh?
ETA: I don't know if this information is current, but might help you:
