I reloaded my first 22 lr when i was 14 it wasn't pretty but did fire, I then loaded one with homemade black powder and it fired. I learned later from an old Russian who was a small boy in Manuchria when Japan invaded. They were not allowed rifles or ammunition. He told me of reloading hundered of 22Rimfires to shoot the plentiful pheasants and grouse. He said possession of a rifle was punishable by death even for children. He explained a much easier method of priming than I used as a kid.

Good story Bushrart, and we think we have it rough sometimes. … I guess that Old Russian could be us if we don’t stay diligent and fight all new gun regulations.
Could you describe the way he reprimed the fired rimfire cases or how you even accomplished it?

I have been sitting on 2,000 primed .22 long cases for a couple of years. Just haven`t figured out what I want to put in them. I`ve been thinking of useing .22 cal. pellets.

The easy way is to disolve the head of a strike anywhere match in alcohol, pour it in the bottom of the case and let it dry. When they could not get powder they would use several match heads and just roll up lead foil into a ball and they had a CB cap. I have several hundered 22 caliber lead balls made for the Rocky Mountain arms breech loaded rifle that used ball, a small powder charge and a cap from a toy pistol. They were olny made for a few years. The round ball sould be perfect to reload CB caps.
