View Full Version : Nikon Monarch UCC problem, need response
I received a Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5 x 20 x 44 riflescope from Midway's sale in January. Upon opening the box and rotating the magnification ring, I heard a continual hissing, the release of air. Is this a problem, a seal? return it? It hissed for a while and no longer hisses. I am assuming trouble.

Why don't you just call Midway or Nikon and ask?

I also bought two Nikon 6-20s last month....great scopes for $350..I did not experience any 'hiss' or air leaking noises...I'd simply return to Midway for exchange....Midway is pretty painless to return/exchange...look reverse side of invoice...one thing I did notice was the short mounting space on the 6-20...I mounted my first one on a Savage SA 223 AI......had to switch two pc bases from Burris to Redfield (flat rear)....other wise seems a decent scope..

That is kind of like the mysterious blue smoke that you get from an electric motor evey now and then. They put it in at the factory to wqrn you when something is wrong. Hissing is not a good sound to hear from a scope.
Midway or Nikon will make it good. By the way, I bought my son the same scope for his Ruger. It is an excellent scope. It is toe to toe with my bushnell 4200 and lup VX 3

I think your nitrogen filled scope is no longer nitrogen filled. Return it and get one that is right...you paid too much for it to not be right.
