So in my quest for another custom I am in need of an action. Looking for the Remington 700 SA 223 actions that Midway and Bruno's had. Well I can't find a place that sells SA 700's other than gun auction sites. Does anyone here know of a place that sell just actions?

Adam:

I also responded over on Saubier to your question, and as I stated there, most likely a donor action from an SPS or ADL will be your best bet today....

Larry Scott, who still sells some stuff here, seems to be getting out of the Remington parting-out business. Before he would have been a good source.

Never hurts to check...... I will probably end up going the route everyone else is. I am just thinking of the cost of removing the barrel and then selling it and the stock. Maybe someone here has a stash cheap. CYA, right. Adam

Adam, When you say Remington action and cheap, they dont gel together. I am out of the takedown business, because of high prices. On rare occasions, I can sometimes buy a new rifle where the parts are affordable, and as I said rare. There is a man who advertises on Bench Rest central that still sells a few, his board name is Mike T. Good luck.

If your having to get a new action, I really suggest going the rout of Just getting a Stiller Predator or Tac or the Surgeon RSR. By the time you buy a new remington have it trued up and timed your right in the same price neighborhood.

Exactly what I was thinking,too.--Mike

Yeah I know about the timing and truing but that's not what I want it for. I know Kelbly's has a 700$ action out but I am looking for the 350$ ADL 223 action. I want an untrued action.

I'd check with Bighorn Arms, I got to check out their actions in July and I was very impressed with the design. The price was a little better than most. Also they are a sponsor of the board here.
