Dale Hollow lake TN/KY fishing

Spent the 4th of July week on a friends house boat out of Hendricks Creek Marina on Dale Hollow Lake. Water was great for skiing and swimming but fishing was a bit tough. Caught tons of nice blue gills but only a few of these(Specks aka Crappie aka Speckled Perch)and no small mouth. This was my biggest, I used a 5wt fly line with a 15 foot sink tip and a 7 foot leader with a slightly weighted minnow imitation. Guys using spinning rigs with live minnows were able to get deeper of course and did some what better getting Specks, but also were skunked in regards to small mouths. All in all another great trip with friends in one of the best places in the country in my opinion. I have already made plans to go back for a week in Oct as my friend says the small mouth bite will be hot then.
