Isn't that due to start in a month or two, depending on your location?

The last time I got into a mess of Crappie was around 1997. I aim to correct that this year though.

Any tips or favorite lure/rod/reel combo info would be appreciated.

We had the best spring that we have ever had. We fish Sutton Lake in WV. Our fall season here is in October. We are hoping the fall is half as good as what the spring was. Tom.

John, ultra light is the key. 5-51/2ft rods, Feel and sensitivity is what its all about. I use Shimano and G. Lomis rods, Shimano Solstace trigger reels in the 2000 size. Dont go with the 1000 size, you will have to much line problems w/ the small spool. 4lb Trilene XL flouresent blue. It has just enough color to see that lite bite line twitch. A quanity of 1/8 and 1/16th jig heads, some pearl white and chartruese 1.5 and 2in curley tails, same colors in small tube tails and all you need to do is add water.

Normal crappie season starts in March.
However crappie fishing can be good if located through october.
Ice fishing starts with ice.
Short rods do help with sensitivity I caught a 2#r this spring early with a 24" rod because my feel was mush better in the wind being closer to the boat and water. I have jigs down to 1/400oz and to 1/8th. If your new and legal live minnows are probably the easiest way to start.
