    Dang. I just stumbled across your question about Shur Shot Lodge and don't recall answering it. Getting old isn't all it's cracked up to be! I apologize if I didn't and if I did.........I guess I apologize for answering again. Either way, here goes. I would say Shur Shot is as good a place as you can find for "newbies". The accomodations are good, the food is good, the people are great! Depending on how many of you there are, they may put you on private land or the Rosebud Reservation. Where you shoot will determine what kind of license you need to get but you can get them online at the lodge. I was there 3 times this year. I've shot p dogs often enough that I'm comfortable going out without a guide on the private land. A tribal member/guide is required on the Rosebud and the guide they use is a good guy.
