Without a doubt, 2800 fps with a 140 grain bullet is a very light load for a 7MM Rem Mag. With today's powders, you can easily see 3200 fps with that bullet and 2900-3000 fps with a 160 grain bullet in a 7 Mag.

The 160 grain Sierra BTSP has always worked well for me in the 7 Mag.
