I bought this 700 Titanium action with PTG bolt with M-16 extractor at least 3 years ago. It sat in Memphis for one year before I decided what I wanted to build first on it. Titanium is about half the weight of stainless steel but much harder. I am eventually going to put a featherweight barrel on it in 6 BR and have a super light carry rifle. But to start, I put a heavy varmint barrel on it so as to find out what kind of accuracy potential it had. The barrel came off my Bat SB that had at least 2000 rounds on it. It was a BRX but I rechambered to a Dasher. I believe it does have accuracy potential. First group had vertical and so I increased the charge by two clicks on my Harrell's powder thrower. Second group looked good as shots 3, 4, and 5 made one hole. Then I loaded 5 more to try at 600 yards. First shot went high over plate at 12 o'clock. I dialed it in and the next four shots went 2 inches.

@600 first shot went high, dialed in, and next four went into 2 inches

PTG bolt very tight tolerances

That's NICE Bro...
How smooth is the action ?

Underdog
Not very smooth with the PTG bolt. I can put my 40-X bolt in and it is smooth as silk. I think the tolerances on the PTG bolt are very tight and the clearance is so close it is almost binding. If you push the bolt body itself with your finger and not push the bolt handle it is smooth. But pushing the bolt handle causes sideways movement which will bind.

A couple of years ago I bought a Rem 700 from PTG with their bolt. The guy that barreled it for me is a machinist and barrel maker. He said it was way to tight. PTG is about 3 hrs from my place and the smith knows the setup at the plant. They train who ever they can get to do a specific job. He told me to send it back and have them regrind it. I did and it came back great.
