The soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade were in a battle that day in the jungles of Vietnam in which they lost a lot of men.
This Brigade seemed to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time and had other worse losses in other battles.
There was a song written and sung by the duo Big and Rich entitled The 8th of November which most of you have heard. https://youtu.be/ozpdBvB0hek
The 2nd link is a list of the fallen Sky Soldiers KIA in Vietnam and Iraq and Afghanistan. A lot of boys who never came home.
This is a Brigade, not a Division, i cant believe how many were lost in such a small unit.
Captain Jesse is honored to serve in this unit. In high school, he had a girlfriend whose dad was in the 173rd in Vietnam; he made it home in Body but not in Mind. He told Jess a lot of stories and showed him a old uniform with the winged dagger patch....Jesse came home, woke me up and told me he was going to be in that unit someday.
I really appreciate what all our armed forces have done to keep us safe here in the Great USA.We truly are blessed to live in this country, both my Dad and Grandfather were Army.JR please tell Jesse “thanks”from all of us,for all he does.
Matt
