I got a swiss army knife for high school graduation and have carried one ever since. I'm now on my third or forth one. Never lost one, maybe the tweezers or toothpick but not the knife.
Got another new one for Christmas this year, still carry the old one around the farm though. You'd be amazed at what all it gets used for. Cork screw can reach down in places and hook things
that need to come out, has never seen a cork!!! Even have used the saw to split the pelvis on a few deer. Also have a leather man in the pickup with my plier pouch, used to carry them on my
belt but finally got tired of the extra weight, but they are always close by when working. Think I've probably always carried a knife since I was about 5 or 6 years old. It was just something guys did.
Good thread, cool to see and hear stories from you all.

My everyday carry is a Old Timer Junior, had it for years. Before then it was an even smaller Camillus pen knife that my uncle gave to me (used) when I was 8 years old. After 9/11, I stopped carrying that one becasue I didn't want to lose it during the TSA searches in case I forgot it in my pocket. I also have 3 or 4 CRK&T tactical knives, and one CRK&T that rides in the console of my car everyday. That one is a blackened carbon steel blade. It has been a real workhorse that I bought new at Fry's for $15. Usually sharpen them with different grit stones or different grits diamond flexhones. Have also had a couple of Leatherman's in the car over the years.

Thanks for the replies; I was curious. I find it interesting that y'all carry Swiss army knives. I never had one but Jesse had a nice one that went in the Barrel at a TSA checkpoint. He bought me a Gerber or two over the years but they never felt right.
I Do carry These Pliers in my RF Pocket every day.

I just noticed This particular one is a USA model. I have been thru a few pair over the years.
There is seldom a day that I don't use them
JB has a pair of Channel Locks in the kitchen cabinet to open Bottles and jars with.
Back when I was a Kid, Bazooka bubble gum would send you a knife for 25 wrappers and I think a Quarter. Guess they all gone on vacation now.
But here's a photo off the Net.

I have a folding razor knife that in stile from the wife....they made them get rid of them where she worked. I also had a Swiss army knife forever. I got one from work for a 5 year gift then lost it after about 20 years. When my wife and daughter went to Europe they visited the factory and brought me home another one....which has disappeared....probably down in my couch.
While my son was home we went through my dad's safe and found a large box of knives that were my grandfathers. Mostly Bear hunter pocket knives...I gave my son one or two and my daughter picked one out and I stuck one in my pocket.... probably 10 or so left.
There was one giant knife that my daughter went nuts for that has finger hole like brass knuckles and probably an 8in blade....more of a novelty knife he probably Mail ordered somewhere.

I used to carry a pocket knife that I would buy a new one every summer and by the end of summer it would be worn out, because I sharpened it every day because I whittled every spare minute. An old man about the age I am now showed me how to whittle out a chain out of ceder fence posts, I made one that was about 12 feet long one time, and quit because I broke a link, still had about two or three feet of ceder rail left.
When I found a Craftsman sheath knife when I was about ten years old and still have it. Best knife for working on deer that I ever had, still all I Have to do is touch up the edge with a steel and butcher two or more deer. Now my everyday carry is a Kershaw assisted open, I can't think of the model but is one of the onion series. It rides hanging on my pocket and then I have a small pen knife that I carry in my right pant pocket along with a pair of small ignition pliers with the slip joint. I have had a pair of those pliers in my pocket ever since back in High School. Not the same pair but a pair of those pliers just the same. I can't remember for sure, but I don't remember ever buying but one more pair of those pliers
My car broke down out on the interstate one time and I had a Buck cattleman knife in my pocket, it turns out that the points had broken in the distributer. It was during the time of CB radios and I put out a call and got in touch with the local Sherriff's office and had them call my brother in law who went to an auto parts store and got the points for me and came out on to the interstate for me and a man and his wife heard my call over the CB radio and stopped and had my wife and baby get in the car with his wife while he helped me change the points. I used the pliers I had to break the point off of the Buck knife to screw the points in with and adjust them. After that I sent the knife back to Buck knife company, they replaced the knife with a brand new one and also sent the old broken one back to me, because I had told them how the knife got broken. After that I never was out in the car without a few tools, still carry tools although there is not much of anything you can do in the modern newer cars. BTW it was snowing and below freezing that night and only that one car stopped to help.

"A soldier without a knife is useless, he may as well stay home." Lt Arndt Volden, Norwegian Army, 1982.

I started carrying a nice Case knife at 17.

Unfortunately I took it to basic training a year later and a drill seargent appropriated it.
I remained knifless until I drew an RR in Hawaii. Returning to RVN I had two Western knives, a Bowie and a folder.

The bowie was sold when I left, the folder has been riding with my for years.
For a while I carried a nifty Browning until I realized it was to valuable for every day use.

Working in civilized society I carried two GT knives, a manual drop point for rough work and an automatic Tanto for serious social work.

When I retired I picked up a little Chinese fixed blade for every day carry. 6 months later I found the perfect sheath knife at a gunshow in Denver. Made in the USA, it goes everywhere.

On these occasions where open carry might cause some snowflake distress the GT Tanto rides discreetly in my pocket.

I have my some of my Dads' knives, my sisters each got a couple too. But I have my Moms Dads knives, he was a farmer all his life, and the knives are really well used!!!
Ken, I had a folding hunter Case like the one you showed, lost it out of the sheath one time while chasing my FILs damn sheep, still watch for it when I'm in that part of that field.
Sure it's been plowed under for years now though.
I have quite a few knives, need to go thru them and make a display for them.

Lots of nice cutlery in those pictures. Practical too.
It seems like most of the younger guys at work carry a folding razor knife like Shane mentioned.
JR, You are the only person I know who has a pair of pliers available at all times. I don’t have those on me but usually, during the winter months, I carry a disposable cigarette lighter, even though I’ve never been a smoker. It doesn’t get used much but it comes in handy every now and then.
My great-grandmother was an old mountain girl from Bell County and carried a folding hawk-bill knife similar to this one, in her purse until she was nearly 90 years old.

Like Dean, I have quite a few knives and bayonets. I have been getting a lot more as we clean out Galen's house. I have been thinking about some kind of display for the smaller folders. Still thinking.
The Case folder and Western bowie pictured were found in his accumulation.

Shane, does it have any Nazi markings on it? I seem to recall some like that were trench knives.
No this is much newer probably made in the 90's. I think it had something like galactic warrior or some silly name on it. It's pretty good sized... I'll try to get a pic of it. It's made by Frost Cutlery.
Ok a Google search found me a pic.of the knife.

I forgot about the bayonet I found when out cutting wood back when in high school. Wasn't rusted at all, thing someone was camping in the area
and lost it. I also have a couple swords my Dad brought home after WW II, I'll bet they are really OLD !!!!
I bet he fought in the Pacific, Dean, am I right? There may have been a few German officers with swords, but I'm thinking it was more common among the Japanese (or Japs, if you will). Hmm, can't say Chinkks, but we can say Japs on here.

You can see I never took very good care of my Stuff and @george in KY can vouch that I haven't improved any.

JR, from what I can tell, your knife would be worth $50-$75 if it were in a little better shape. That's based on an Internet search. Looks like it was made by Camco, which was affiliated in some way with Camillus. I also found a tin sign version of the ad that was used to promote these Bazooka knives. Don't know if the ads were in comic books or what. I find it interesting that the ad says "first 10,000 boys and girls," because the commie pinko libs would have us believe that girls and women have been horribly oppressed in these United States. But here they're being offered a knife, same as the boys. Interesting, huh?
