I've asked this on several forums already and I get all kinds of responses except the one that answers my simple question:

If I need to raise the POI on a target, I just turn the elevation turret UP the required amount of clicks. When I go to shoot, the rifle will actually be raised up but in order to do that the crosshair is actually lowered in the process.

But turning the turret to UP should also raise the front end of the erector tube which is the opposite of what should be needed. I am under the impression that the image is upside down while inside the erector tube - and moving the crosshair UP on an image that is UPSIDE DOWN is actually lowering the crosshair to raise the POI.

Is this correct or is there some other way it's accomplished? Thanks.

Hmmm

That all sounds just confusing enough to be correct.
