Well guys I am back home, got home Tuesday evening about 7pm! Both docs were amazed, their words not mine, at how well I was doing. I feel the best I have felt since before my 1st surgery on 9-26-17! I feel much better overall, I am very alert and much better off mentally, like a fog had been lifted. Now I have a 26 inch incision, over 120 staples, several layers of stitching, and am in very little to no pain! I often only take one low dosage pain pill to help me sleep at night, since that is when pain rears its head, and it is usually a small burning sensation that comes and goes, about 90% less pain than the other 3 surgeries. I am about 4x stronger than my last surgery, as I had worked the past 3 months to rebuild my upper body strength, and was able to get up and go to the bathroom on a walker with no difficulty 4 hours after surgery! In a conference with both docs yesterday morning, it was decided that I was well enough to go home and bypass the rehab at the hospital, since I walked down the hall and back on crutches without any issues, and very few issues at all. The docs discussed how sick I was at the last surgery, and told me, very seriously, that they had given me a 50/50 chance of making it after the surgery, due to having 2 major bacterial infections. They also discussed the nursing staff had all remarked how they could not believe how well I was doing this time, compared to the last surgery, since I had nearly 100% of the same staff. When all was said and done, I told the doctors, I appreciated how much they and their staff had done for me, but in the big picture, God had his hand in all of it, and the prayers of a lot of good friends had lifted me up, especially thru the last 4 months, and we needed to give God the praise first and foremost. They both agreed, and we had prayer before they left. I cannot thank all of you enough for the prayers and thoughts and support the last year and a half and 4 surgeries, I feel blessed to know everyone of you all! Now I don't mean to sound preachy, but after going thru all I have in the past few months, and be in the shape I am today, it is truly as close to a miracle as you can get, especially the last 5 days. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS, I feel like I would not be here if not for these. Buff out!
