There are all these Air Soft guns available, as evidenced by all of the sale flyers for sporting goods stores. Some of them are pretty expensive, too, over a hundred bucks!

I just don't understand...to shoot plastic pellets at the cat?

I attended a training seminar in which the air soft guns were used as a training aid. Very effective. Especially in demonstrating the Tueller drill. If wearing only a T shirt, those li'l plastic pellets sting. Of course you need eye protection too.

I viewed a show on Discovery a while back....

that had a segement on the AirSoft weapons. Their are groups playing at war using these instead of painballs.

You can get an AirSoft that is as close to the real thing as possible without being the real thing. They can be configured in the same ways the M4's our troops overseas are using. They will spend hundreds of dollars to be as exacting as the real thing as possible. And at the end of the day, everyone goes home.

These folks completely outfit themselves in uniforms, load bearing equipment, weapon styles and communications and play at being SEAL's, SF's, Recon, or SpecOps types.

I bought mine 'cause it was cheap indoor fun

I can set up a small box with a plastic bag or two in it and shoot through paper targets.
It ain't too shabby on the neighborhood stray cats either. Shots up to 25 yds get 'em runnin to the cat lady's house.

full auto

my room mates is a MP5 clone with a can and man it looks real. any cop would waste you if you pointed it at them. His runs off a battery back and is full auto capable and you feel every BB that hits you. We used to clear building with them in reserve officer school....very effective trainign aide. Oh yea some of these guys playing hard core have Rem 700 clones that have full picitanny rails and highpowered scope that will snipe your A$$ from a fair distance. I have been hit and never figured out who hit me. Much more accurate than a paintball gun. Find a place locally get a bunch of guys together and rent guns and see if you dont love it. I still have scars!!!
