Anybody else tried the A17 ammo? I shot them through my chrony.. I got a little over 2700 FPS...out of my Ruger American. Very accurate... I killed these 3 Small chucks with them this summer.one at 126 yards. Witch I believe is plenty far for a clean kill with a HMR on woodchucks .Dropped it stone dead. I'm pretty impressed with them.

Wow no kidding... my neighbor had a Savage model 93 that he owned for years. Noticed split and bulged cases with several different brands of ammo. Sent it to Savage to see if they would do anything for him. They sold him a new model 93 for half price. The new rifle splits cases too.?

Mine is the new 93R17 Tacticool model. Few years old. Doesn't do it with other ammo and drives tacks with Hornady 17 gr. The A17 was 2"+ in mine, the few I tried. Gave the brick away. Guess I should have tried it in my Contender.

Yes I believe that's the case. When I shot them through the chrony I also shot Federal and Winchester 17 grain stuff. They both were close to the 2550 FPS mark. The A17 averaging 2720 FPS

I got my 17HMR as soon as they came out. Right out of the gate I was using Remington Golden Bullet Ammo. That’s all I shot for many years, I tried other brands of ammo, and all of them had a lower point of impact of 1 inch or more compared to Remington ammo. As the panic started to set in an ammo availability was dropping, I laid up a stash of it. I had a couple hunting buds that hit me up for a few boxes and they experienced the same point of impact change.
I don’t know who was loading the Remington Ammo, but it was loaded hotter than it’s competion.

I picked up a Savage 93R17 in grey laminate a couple weeks ago, and took it to the range to see how much I would enjoy it . Love that little cartridge so far and was testing different brands of ammo while getting the scope zeroed.

It shot the Hornady 17g best then the Federal Shok. Tried some Winchester 20g HP's. The very first case of the Winchester ammo split at the neck, then the rest of the Winchester was normal or no split cases. I did experience some hard to close the bolt and even harder to open the bolt with the Winchester 20g's while the bolt operation was smooth & easy on the Hornady & Federal ammo.

Anyone else experience this or similar with their 17's rigs??

I have a couple boxs of Winchester 20 gr hollow points.. shot a few.. no issues in my Ruger American so far..
Check this out.. don't know if you can see in picture but both of those rounds have spilt necks. Federal and Winchester. Did some research and apparently its not uncommon in HMR ammo thats a few years old
