I came across this today while looking around and thought some would find it interesting. This guy is reloading his own 17HMR and trying to set a world record with it. Looks like he has went to 1200 yards so far.

According to my ballistic program, a Hornady 17gr. .17 HMR, starting out at 2636 fps, and zero'd at 100 yards, would have the following at 1000 yards....
520 fps........10 ft lbs of energy ..... and would drop 1486 inches at 1000 yards..

Good Luck.....

If you go to his Face Book page he tells everything with photos and all. Seems like I read his reloads per 50 are around $37. The numbers Dave quoted are very close to what he has on his page.

I think that I would have a problem holding approx. 125 feet over my target. And if I did happen to hit it, 10 ft lbs of energy, the bullet would bounce off of anything it hit...
