Much to everyone's surprise, we made it back from Rome on the Train. That train runs 250 km hour which is over 150 mph at times. When you meet a train coming from the opposite direction, it sucks the air right out of the car and makes your ears stop up. Many tunnels are miles long through the mountains.
Capt Jesse left at 3am for an Airborne operation in which he is the lead Jumpmaster and will not return till midnight. The baby is upstairs QUIET for the moment so I have nothing to do for a few days.
I wish all you folks could have been with us in Rome, it is very impressive and Charlie would Eat Pasta till he busted. Carl, bring me some Beany Wenies if you drop by.
Dean, run by and check on my Damcows if you have time. George I hope you have a easier day and go fishing, maybe take wife for a drive to see the autumn leaves.

32° here in Upstate NY this morning, there is a little snow on the back deck. The high temperature is to get up to about 39° today and be sunny they say. It will also be fairly windy again today, with gusts up to about 25mph.

Fairly quiet day yesterday, I was able to do some gun club work that I wanted to get done. No sense in taking a ride to see the colorful leaves this year, they haven't been that pretty and they have all been blowing down. Next door neighbors had to go to Florida as Martha's Father passed away so I am keeping an eye on their house for them.

Have a Wonderful Day Everyone.

Good Morning

40 degrees (or 4 degrees Celsius for our European guests) here this morning. My little granddaughter was at Mom and Dads house yesterday so I stopped in to visit them for awhile. Just doesn’t get much better than that. Split a little firewood and fixed the gate around the pool. Days are definitely getting shorter in a hurry. I thought I was headed to the range but I ran out of daylight.

You have an overnight package on the way JR. Those Chicken Parmesan MRE’s should be there by dinner time.

Haven’t heard from The Fisherman yet. Between Bud’s Guns and Smokey Mountain Knifeworks he might be busy awhile. I’ve never been to Gatlinburg but I’ve ordered a few things from Smokey Mountain over the years. When my sons were younger and that catalog arrived, they would study it from cover to cover for days on end.

Make it a good day

Good morning, chilly 33 in Waseca. Supposed to get warm today, near 60 and no rain.
We are making another trip to Iowa Falls for the last load of stuff. A cabinet my father made for me in 1986, to hold the microwave. And a nice work bench that I hope to fit in the garage. That is the end of the estate cleaning. Now we're waiting for the realtor to finish the house sale.
RV is in for expensive service, Journal is completed except for proof reading. Wife's really anxious to get on the road. Especially after Sundays inch of snow.
Hope everyone has a blessed day,
Ken

Good morning all. 33 in Indy. Another chilly 10:00 start at the golf course. Crazy as it may sound, I like playing this time of year. Heck, it’ll be 40 when we tee off. The secret is just keep your balls warm. Changed my prescription coverage yesterday. Ya’ gotta’ watch those sneaky insurance sumbitches. They’ll raise your premiums and copays at the drop of a hat. Rant off. I’m off to the breakfast blind. No pasta omelet for me.

Prayers to those in need. Have a good day.

Good morning from the trees and out back. It's a chilly 41° here this morn. Got an extra layer on. Have a vet appointment for the dog this morning then headed for MD's eastern shore for muzzleloader season. Nice to have a few days off. Daylight is just breaking. Better get off here. Have a good one.

morning all. 29 and no wind, for now. Should get into the mid 50s. Finally the wind quit after dark last, blew hard for 48 hours.
Doc appt. went as I thought, now have to go by the hospital and get tests on my heart. Always more tests, everytime you go to the doc. I thing it's a scam or something they have going.
Picked up a few parts and had to order some for equipment around the farm.
Today and tomorrow will be long hard days, working the damcows. Time to wean the calves.
Today I turn 61, just can't figure how all those years went by so fast
Have a great day and stay safe.
GOD BLESS. Dean

Good Morning

Slept in this morning. 29 and no heat in the house, seems the oil delivery man forgot to fill my tank back in August. Don't blame the doctors Dean, its all the empty seats on the bus load of attorneys going over the cliff !!! They have to run the tests to keep from getting sued. But Happy Birthday anyway and take the day off !!Time for a cup of joe. Be safe and Prayers to those and country. Mike

Happy BD Dean. If you think you got to 61 fast, the time span
to reach 71 will be like the 150MPH train that JR is riding. FAAAAST.

BTW JR, who is taking care of the Bouncer cat???? I know he misses you.

I hope Mike doesn't buy all the genuine Cherokee Indian moccasins thats
made in China, before I get to the Smokies. LDS

Good morning everyone and Happy Bday Dean!

Got to the shop early today and working on fixing a twisted burnt up mess of a SS furnace rack. Welds better than I figured after you grind off the nasty scale. Supposed to be getting some 18-20Ft part in that are all 3/4" and 5/8" thk steel that get 5/8" fillet weld the full length so lots of wire will be getting burnt up into weld smoke and slag next week. I need to get some larger wire ordered hopefully to help it go faster.

Hoping to get out and call a little this weekend, I was going to go out lastnight but decided the chair felt better after getting home and having dinner. I'm sure with the colder weather setting in quick they are staying close to the hog barns...they are getting ready to do a load out on a few of the barns and there will be fresh bodies in the compost for the coyotes to dig after.

Well back after it I guess...hope everyone has a good day and stays safe!

43º and sunny @ Standing Stone State Park in the upper Cumberlands. Tarcila, the westies and I are taking a few days to camp and relax. When camping I sometimes wonder why it is fun to struggle with wood smoke, a cold tent and other camping oddities and determine that it's fun. But we keep doing it and so it must be. Today is supposed to be in the fifties with sun and we'll find some local trails to enjoy. Fall colors are running behind this year for whatever reason, but it's still a quiet, colorful place to hang out for a few.

Happy Birthday Dean! I always enjoy reading your morning posts.

45 on the way to 73 here in far Northern California. Beautiful weather. Colors are changing a little more each day.

Need to get to the range. I’ll be heading for a Whitetail Hunt in Wyoming next month.

Have a great day and be careful out there. JR, no international incidents please, we would have to come a long way to get you!

Happy Birthday dean. I was just thinking of you. I just got to the Eastern shore of MD and passed a field with an irrigator. It had SOLID PLASTIC tires. They were white. If you could get ahold of them it would save you a lot of headaches.

Had a great morning behind the house. Saw 4 in the dark with the flashlight. Saw 14 more from stand. Had one buck skip by. Looked decent but only saw a flash of horn. Had 8 around me within 20 yards for over an hour. They had me stuck in the tree. Almost missed my vet appointment. Awesome to watch them for that long, that close. Lots of bait for my buck in a week or two.
