Went to two doc appointments on Thursday. I was worried about seeing the surgeon, as 3 weeks ago, at my last appointment which was 4 weeks after my hip replacement, the bone that they broke when taking the old hip out, had not healed at all, still had a wide gap/fracture. This time however, the break was completely healed, the hip looked good, and the doc told me I could put my full weight on, go back to using the one crutch with the arm brace that I have to use since the strokes. Man I will never fuss about using that one crutch, after being on 2 crutches for 6 months.

The infectious disease specialist I saw that afternoon had my bloodwork done, said in inflammation markers were at 30, which is normal for someone my age who has quite a bit of arthritis. Back in the first part of October, they had been nearly 90! The doc who I have been seeing every two weeks, discussed how much overall I had progressed since my first visit. I had trouble with my speech, hand dexterity, stumbling, had trouble getting up out of a chair, and my thought process had improved. He stated that when I was having the seizure like events all last spring, summer and fall, my body was battling 2 deadly infections, and when I exerted myself working in the garden, mowing the yard, or any type of exertion and I would nearly pass out, my body could not do what I was wanting it to, and fight the infections, so my body was just shutting down in survival mode. He told me that when he first saw me and gave me the first 2 IV's, l had a 40/60 chance of pulling out of it, I was so close to going septic, was very close to dying. He is going to keep me on 2 doses of antibiotics a day for 4 more months, then 1 a day, from now on.

I want to thank you all for your prayers, and well wishes the last 18 months, it has meant a lot to me, and the prayers were obviously heard. I posted a thank you on Facebook also, for a lot of my friends here locally had me on their church prayer lists. Most of all, I am thankful to God, who does everything on his timeline, not ours, and the lessons I have learned in having faithd. Again, thank all of you!

Great news on your progress Sam. Our bodies are such an intricate, self preserving design. Not bat for an organism that crawled out of some sort of primal goo... or so they say, in their infinite wisdom. 😕
